Don’t worry, try these few quick steps in the first place and the adaptive brightness will start working on your Echo Dot with a clock.
- Open the “Alexa” app and tap “Devices”.
- Next, tap “Echo & Alexa” and “Echo Dot with clock”.
- Further, tap “LED Display” and turn OFF the “Adaptive Brightness”.
- Now, press and hold the “brightness slider” and adjust the brightness manually.
- Finally, turn ON “Adaptive Brightness” again, and wait for a few seconds and you will see the brightness will start adjusting automatically.
If you are still stuck in this issue, then go and check and if there are any pending updates available for the Alexa app or the device. You can do this right away by following the below simple steps,
Update Alexa App & Amazon Echo Dot
To update the Alexa app,
- Open the Google Play Store on your smartphone or tablet.
- Tap your “Profile icon” at the top right and select “Manage apps & device”.
- Tap the “Updates” section and locate the “Alexa” app.
- If there is any update available, then follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the updates.
To update the Amazon Echo Dot,
- Open the “Alexa” app and tap “Devices”.
- Next, tap “Echo & Alexa” and “Echo Dot with clock”.
- Further, tap “Device Settings” and then tap “About”.
- If there is any update available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.
Once, you are done with the update, then simply reboot your Amazon Echo Dot.
Reboot the Amazon Echo Dot
To reboot the Echo Dot,
- Unplug the power cable from your Echo Dot.
- Wait for 20 seconds at least.
- Now, plug the power cable back in to restart it.
Once, the Echo Dot completely boots up, then go to the Alexa app and see if the “Adaptive Brightness” is turned ON already, then turn it OFF and then again turn it ON.
You should turn OFF your room lights for a few minutes and then turn it back ON to check the Echo Dot is adjusting its brightness level automatically.
In case, you still facing issues with the adaptive brightness, then reset your Amazon Echo Dot. This will restore your device to its factory default settings.
Factory Reset Amazon Echo Dot
To factory reset the Echo Dot,
- Hold down the “Volume down” and “Microphone Off” button for about 20 seconds.
- Now, wait for the light ring to turn Off and ON.
- Once, your Echo Dot enters the setup mode, follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device.
