Wyze Camera Not Working after Power Outage: These Fixes Can Help

Whenever you find your Wyze camera not working after the outage, consider power cycling the device in the first place. At this point, you might be thinking of how to power cycle the camera If I am miles away from the location of my camera.

You can do this with the help of the Wyze app, only when you are using the Wyze plug. So, if you have connected your Wyze camera to the Wyze plug, then power cycle the Wyze Plug using the Wyze app.

Reset the Camera

If the Wyze camera is not working after the power outage and you are present at the camera’s location, then reset it.

1. Unplug the camera from the power source.
2. Wait for about 1-2 minutes.

Check the Internet Connection

Make sure, the internet connection is stable and working properly. You can confirm it on other devices connected to it. If you find the internet not working properly on other devices, then there is a chance it might be affected by the power outage.

1. Unplug the WiFi router from the power source.
2. Wait for about 1 minute.

Re-add the Camera

Remove the camera from the Wyze app and then again add it and connect it to the WiFi network. This can refresh the connection and help resolve the issue.

1. Open the “Wyze app”.
2. Tap the “Camera”, you want to remove.
3. Tap the “Settings” icon at the top right.
4. Scroll down to the bottom and tap “Delete Device”.
5. Now, tap the “New Device” button and select the “Cameras” option.
6. Further, select your “Wyze Camera” and press the setup button on the base of the camera until you hear the voice “Ready to connect”.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device and connect to the WiFi network.

Update the Camera Firmware

Your camera firmware might be affected by some bugs. You should update the firmware to remove the bugs and restore your camera back to normal. There might latest version of the firmware available, download and install it to resolve this issue.

1. Open the “Wyze app”.
2. Tap the “Account” option at the bottom.
3. Tap the “Firmware Update” option
4. If there are any firmware updates available, then you will be able to see them here.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the updates.
