Geeni Light Bulb Not Connecting to Google Home

Check your WiFi
The first thing to check is your home WiFi network. If it’s the cause of the problem, the Geeni light bulb won’t connect to Google Home.
To ensure your internet connection works, try browsing any website on your phone while connected to the same WiFi network. If the website loads successfully, your internet is working correctly.
Also, the Geeni light bulb only supports 2.4 GHz WiFi bands. So, if your router supports 5 GHz, ensure you have set 2.4 GHz in its setting.
Power Cycle your Router
When I encounter any issues with my tech gadgets, one of my go-to troubleshooting steps is to power cycle them.
So, if your internet is working, but the Geeni light bulb still has an issue connecting to Google Home or WiFi, try to power cycle both your router and the bulb.
To power cycle your router, follow these steps:
- Turn off your router.
- Disconnect it from the power source for 3 minutes.
- After 3 minutes, plug it back in and turn it On.
Now, it’s the light bulb turn. First, disconnect it from the power source for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, plug it back in. Also, close the Geeni app on your smartphone and then restart your phone.
After power cycling both your router and light bulb, try again. Hopefully, this time it will connect to the Google Home.
Move Router Close to the Bulb
Is your Geeni light bulb receiving enough WiFi signals? Since it is a smart light bulb, it requires a proper internet connection to communicate with your phone. So, if the WiFi signals are very low at the bulb location, it won’t connect to the Google Home.
To fix it, either move your router close to the light bulb or install a WiFi extender device.
